Close Pine Gap spy base: Protest at the U.S. Consulate
On July 19 at 1pm Stop the War on Palestine will protest at the U.S. Consulate in Sydney demanding the closure of the Pine Gap Spy Base.
The action will coincide with the national convergence on Pine Gap where activists from around the country will converge on Arrernte lands in the Northern Territory to demand the closure of the base and Indigenous land back. Protests will take place around the country to coincide with the convergence.
The US-run Pine Gap spy base in Central Australia plays a key role sending military intelligence that assists Israel's genocide in Gaza as well as the Israeli and US wars in Lebanon and Iran. Since the 1960s the Australian government has hosted the spy base, which has been described as “America's most valuable intelligence site outside US soil”. Its role makes the Australian government deeply complicit in Israel's genocide.
Stop the War on Palestine is organising a bus to the convergence from Sydney. We expect to leave Sydney on Wednesday 15 July and return on Thursday 23 July. Please donate now to help us get to the convergence.
Spaces on the bus are limited but if you are interested in coming message our Instagram page or email us below.
